The audio book reading app Link was created for the non-profit organization Learning Ally. It is designed to transform the learning experience for students with dyslexia, learning disabilities or visual impairment. Audio learners have access to 80,000 human-read audiobooks including textbooks, fiction and classic literature.
Because the users have special visual requirements, creating a clear and easy to use interface for both the desktop and the mobile versions was essential. They can add notes, bookmarks, vocabulary lists, and customize the audio speed, text size, and background and highlight colors. The users also have access to the audio learner events in the community, and resources such as podcasts tailored for them.
The prototype was tested with young users and refined based on their feedback.
